Hard Water Stains, Limestone other difficult Stains CLICK HERE TO PURCHASE C-THRU WATER SPOT REMOVER

Most difficult to remove stains on windows, glass shower doors, stainless steel surfaces and other hard surfaces are hard water stains. Hard water stains are normally based on limestone deposits. Many areas have great water but often contain limestone (calcium) particularly those areas that obtain water from aquafiers.

When water is left on the glass surface to dry a minute quanity of limestone is left. When this happens frequently or over a prolonged period then the deposit stains grow large enough to visibly detract from the clear appearance. This can also happen on glass shower surfaces when the limestone combines with soap, body fats etc.

HARD WATER STAINS CAN BE REMOVED!

There is very definitely the right way to remove stains on windows and very definitly the wrong way.
SCOUR PADS - Do not use these they can cause serious scratching which is almost impossible to repair.

ACID CLEANERS - Some work but they are very dangerous and almost certainly will damage other surfaces. Do not use Hydroflouric acid based cleansers, these are extremely dangerous particularly on your health. Click here for info on Hydroflouric Acid

BLEACH - Simply does not work

CHEMICAL CLEANERS - There are many around that can assist such as our Citrus Shower Shock (Click here for details). They will help but once the limestone hard water stain is there you will only get marginal results. Other popular formulas and home brews are normally based on Citric Acid, Sulphamic acid, and some other acids which can be very dangerous, these can work but require repeated applications over a period of time and best work when hot (this is obviously difficult on vertical glass) and generally will only reduce the stain.
