STEP ONE: THE RIGHT TOOLS
Professional results require professional tools, plain and simple (don’t worry they are not expensive)
- A professional squeegee with a replaceable high quality rubber blade.
- A professional washer will soap up your window faster than a sponge or wet rag. The professional scrubber will not drip as much and is not messy.
- A MYTEE MICROFIBRE Glass cloth for the edges of the glass.
STEP TWO: SLIPPERY SOAPS
What soap do you use? Well suprisingly for squeegee work it’s just ordinary
dishwash detergent. It cleans well and enables the rubber blade to glide.
STEP THREE: SCRUBBING
Fill your window cleaning bucket or one side of your Carry-All with 25-50 mm of water and 1 squirt of dishwash detergent. Dip the Scrubber in and squeeze off the excess, allow the scrubber to drip for a few seconds and flip it over, this will enable you to get to the window without drips. Scrub the window using enough liquid so that it doesn’t dry out and as little as possible so you don’t create a flood.
STEP FOUR: HOW TO HOLD YOUR SQUEEGEE
It is the edge of the rubber blade that does the cleaning, so you need to hold the squeegee with the rubber on the window and tap the handle now raise it 25 to 40mm from the window. Three fingers should be on one side of the handle with the thumb on the other side.
STEP FIVE: THE FIRST SWIPE
Holding the squeegee vertical against the left hand side of the window, angle the top of the blade to the right to form a slope (By creating a mountain the excess water will flow down). With only a little downwards pressure move the squeegee to the right, making certain the handle angle stays the same right across the window. Walk with the squeegee your arm will not grow. At the end of the stroke put a little extra pressure on the blade and lift the handle up and away from the glass.
STEP SIX: THE SECOND SWIPE AND BEYOND
Before the next swipe dry your squeegee blade with your Microfibre Cloth
Holding the squeegee vertical with the top 50mm in the dry area repeat step five.
STEP SEVEN: THE CLEAN UP
After completing the window use your Microfibre cloth (well wrung out) to dry the edges of the window. If you have left a streak you will be able to wipe it out with your MYTEE Microfibre cloth with no streaks or smears.
